Coral Coast - The Shark Bay

Regular price $1,100.00

This piece measures 80cm in diameter and is a part of the Coral Coast Collection that I have been working on after visiting this part of WA back in April 2021.

Do you know that Shark Bay is Australia’s largest bay? It boasts over 1,000 kilometres of pristine beach and calm, inviting waters. It is home to 35 per cent of Australia’s total bird species, as well as thousands of dugongs and other endangered animals like the loggerhead turtle and green turtle. Also, the seagrass beds of Shark Bay are the largest in the world and twelve of the world’s sixty seagrass species are found in Shark Bay.

Real sand was used in this piece as well as high quality resin and pigments. To achieve the 3D look of the waves, I poured multiple layers after each one was fully cured. A heat gun was used to manipulate the resin to create waves. I then used a new technique to achive the seagrass effect using spray paints.

This piece has been fully cured for 30 days and has a key hole back, ready to be hang. The edges have been painted white for a crisp smooth finish.

Bring a slice of Shark Bay into your home with the amazing seagrasss and sandbankt under multiple layers of waves.

No two pours are the same, so you will own a one of kind piece at home.

I would like to acknowledge the Malgana Peoples as the traditional custodians of the land and sea in and around the Shire of Shark Bay. I pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
